I had gone to bed relatively early (for me),
knowing I wanted to awaken good and early to hear what was going on with the
election results. My BBC station had promised an all-night vigil and I was
determined to make them honest.
Wow, the fate of our nation – for the next four
years anyway – was determined relatively quickly this go around. By the time I
was able to brush away the cobwebs and stagger out of my dreams, any
uncertainty of the election results were mostly over, the die had pretty much been
cast – not Romney’s time to lead, I guess.
(A man at
the singles convention I had recently attended was excited to ask what I
thought as an American, if I thought Romney’s candidacy portended the moment in
the history of the country when ‘the Constitution would hang as it were by a
single thread,’ and the church would ‘step forth and and save it from the
threatened destruction?’. I said, I had no idea, but it was a good question. Actually, if you think about it - if a man with the name of 'Barak' - 'Obama' can be elected, then anything is possible!)
Several people in my own family will be quite pleased. Personally for myself, can’t
say I’m surprised by the results. One commentator said Romney had been seen
(recognized for what he had to offer) too late, thus accounting for the loss. I
told Myfanwy that both of our prayers had been answered: she had said she’d
been praying that Obama would be reinstated, me that the Lord’s will would be
done (she cannot get her head around this concept because ‘surely God doesn’t
will for bad things to happen’) – so it
was a win-win. (Refer to the final point from the quote from The Star, on Day
Hundred Twenty, under the heading, ‘Miracles.’)
Having remained awake until I heard the thank
you/end-of-a long-road speeches from both candidates, I curled back down into my
nice, cuddly bed and slept again till 9.
Had contact with EACH of my kids today – by
various means. That is pretty awesome, seeing as how we are approximately 5550
miles and a couple light years apart. I love you guys SO much, and I am so
proud of each of you. Every one of you is different and unique, and every one
of you is wonderfully awesome to me – and, naturally, I am not prejudiced in
any way.
