Good and quiet around the old hotel this morning – that’s
okay, because so am I. Had a nice, lazy sleep in, then mostly chilled. Had
myself an actual break today – it was delicious AND welcomed!
Here’re some observations to think about as we all head
together into a new year, composed by George Carlin - comedian, social critic, and satirist,
who first became popular during the 60s. Says some profound things – well worth

As for me, I’ve kind of gotten to the point where my New
Year’s resolutions have become quite simple: I know what my weaknesses are and
I am trying to systematically work on making them my strengths. So as several
will have said in their testimonies this coming Sunday, we (I and they) are
concentrating on doing just a little bit better every day, becoming the person
we have the spiritual potential to be – getting one step closer to that
celestial being we’re all working on!
The only kind of work thing I did was help with dinner
service, but as our guest numbers have greatly diminished and there was plenty
of help, didn’t do too awfully much. Unfortunately I continue to have trouble
accessing the internet, so keep coming downstairs periodically in order to get
service at all – a great nuisance, I’ll tell you. Loraine’s oldest son, Jack, was
kind enough to come up to my room and see if he could figure out anything other
than what I had guessed already. We both decided it somehow is associated with
the particular room I’m in – although it is just down the corridor from the
room I had before (where I had perfect access, thank you very much!). As I think
about it, actually it WAS about the time I moved to this newest room that my
internet began getting weaker and weaker, until I lost it altogether. Time to
move!

my little room, sans
internet - wonderful high ceiling, though I suspect do-it-yourself decorating (get
a load at the placement of those pictures)
